Threshing Day brings new Empyrean stories while book four waits until 2027 at the earliest
Rebecca Yarros has published Threshing Day, a collection of thirteen Empyrean short stories, while the fourth novel is not expected before late 2027.
Fans of Fourth Wing have new stories to read. Threshing Day, a collection of thirteen short stories set in the world of the Empyrean, was released on 29 September 2026, and it includes a story about Xaden Riorson.
Threshing Day is not the fourth novel. Reports suggest the next full book in the series is unlikely to arrive before late 2027, following Onyx Storm, which was published in January 2025.
On screen, Prime Video and Michael B. Jordan’s company Outlier Society are developing a television series based on the books, with Rebecca Yarros as an executive producer and Meredith Averill as showrunner. Casting has not been confirmed.
