A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms brings Dunk and Egg to HBO
George R. R. Martin’s tales of the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg arrived on HBO in 2026.
The world of Westeros returned to HBO in 2026 with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R. R. Martin’s novellas about Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight, and his unlikely young squire, Egg.
Set about a century before Game of Thrones, the stories are smaller and warmer than the main saga, following two travellers through tourneys and trouble. The novellas are collected in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
It joins House of the Dragon, the series adapted from Fire and Blood, Martin’s history of House Targaryen. Several more projects set in the same world remain in development.
