Audible’s best audiobooks of 2026 so far, and the authors you will find here

Audible’s editors have named their best audiobooks of 2026 so far, and many of the authors on their Australian list are on The Recurring Cast. Their full best of the year list usually follows in late November.

Crime and thriller fans are well served. Candice Fox’s Redbelly Crossing, narrated by Lani Tupu and Jeremy Waters, is Australian noir about two estranged police brothers, inspired by real unsolved murders. Dervla McTiernan’s standalone Three Reasons for Revenge is read by Alison McGirr, and Alice Feeney’s My Husband’s Wife has three narrators, including Richard Armitage.

Several of this year’s most talked-about books also work well as audiobooks. Patrick Radden Keefe reads his own London Falling, and Belle Burden reads her memoir, Strangers. Caro Claire Burke’s satire Yesteryear is read by Rebecca Lowman, Maggie O’Farrell’s Land by Dane Whyte O’Hara, and M. L. Stedman’s outback saga A Far-Flung Life by Lewis Fitz-Gerald.

The biggest production on the list is the full-cast edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with more than 200 performers including Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy and Matthew Macfadyen.

If you like to read and listen at once, Audible’s Read & Listen feature, launched in the US in February, highlights the Kindle text word by word as the narrator reads, for books where you own both versions.

Every book page on The Recurring Cast has an Amazon link, and you can find the audiobook edition from there.
